Our research group is pleased to welcome Lorenzo Fraccaroli, PhD candidate at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

His PhD research focuses on the development of an in-house code for analyzing fatigue crack growth phenomena, from nucleation to propagation. The code is implemented within the open-source FEM software Salome_Meca/Code_Aster.

His research activities mainly revolve around two areas. The first concerns numerical analysis, specifically the development of finite element simulations (FEM) to assess the behavior of various mechanical components. The second is more experimental and focuses on evaluating the fatigue properties of different materials, including those produced through additive and conventional manufacturing processes.

During his time at the DIMEAS department, Lorenzo will carry out research activities aimed at improving the topics of crack propagation and gears.
